Eva was born on March 14, 1932 in Lacarak, Yugoslavia to Johann and Katarina Hammer. She was the youngest of six children and in 1944 during World War II her family fled Yugoslavia and made a new life in Austria. She met her future husband Frank, in 1950, married in 1951 and after five years of marriage they decided to immigrate to the United States. They arrived in the U.S. with two young children, two trunks of belongings and $300 in February of 1957 to, once again start a new life. Soon after arriving in the U.S. she found employment in the meat packing industry and worked until she retired at the age of 60. They purchased their first home in 1958, and they purchased their second home in 1967 where they lived for 55 years. Eva’s #1 place to travel to was back to Austria to visit all her family.
Eva belonged to the Carpathia Club for 66 years where they had a large social life. They attended numerous parties, festivals, dances, Friday fish frys and Tuesday senior cards with family and friends. The one thing you can always be sure of is when you come to Eva’s house you always got fed, from the best homemade desserts to an entire meal, you never left her home hungry.
Nothing was more important to her than the unconditional love she had for her family. They were always the number one priority in her life. We will miss and love you forever
So it’s true, when all is said and done, grief is the price we pay for love.
Visitation will be on Saturday, September 7th from 10:00 A.M. until 12:00 P.M. with a funeral service beginning at 12:00 P.M., all at the A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 32000 Schoenherr Road, Warren, MI 48088.
Eva will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband Frank at Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton Township following services.
