Florence Helen Wojno, age 95, peacefully passed on to be with her Lord, Jesus Christ on Sunday August 7, 2016. Florence was born in Detroit, Michigan and was a 1939 graduate of Chadsey High School. Florence worked for the U.S. government during World War II and for the UAW Solidarity House after the war. She met and married her husband Henry in 1950 and chose the vocation of devoted mother in the raising of her two children. Years later she returned to the realm of employment with the U.S. government, but this time on a part-time basis which afforded her the ability of enrolling in adult education classes at Oakland University where her studies centered around psychology.Florence was an avid reader and family counselor to friends and loved ones alike. In the mid 1980's, she was a member of the Lioness Club, a group involved in raising funds for Leader Dogs for the blind. During this time, she and members of their group, the "Golden Girls," would enjoy afternoon lunches and a rousing game of pinochle. Florence and her husband, Henry spent many winters in Naples, Florida. They enjoyed books, the symphony, as well as morning and evening walks on the beach. Florence is the dearest mother of Dr. Ted Wojno, and the Honorable Paul (Lisa) Wojno. She is loved and dearly cherished by her grandchildren, Nicole, Lauren, Alex, Kennedy, Bradley and Audrey. She will be missed by her nieces and nephews. Florence was predeceased by her loving husband Henry of 63 years, parents Joseph and Bertha Guzik, sister, Jessie (Staniszewski), and brother, Edward Guzik. Florence deeply appreciated the live in home care provided by Kathy Levenski for so many years and welcomed Kathy's occasional home delivery of a McDonald's fish sandwich. A special thanks to Marie Sankuer and the staff at "A Room at the Inn" in Warren, Michigan for the exceptional, personalized care extended to Florence these last few months, and meeting all her needs with such personal and spiritual comfort.
