A loving message from his beloved, Winnie ~I share today with deep sadness that my husband, Floyd Emilio Gallegos passed away on Monday morning, October 15th at 9:15 a.m. He was an inspiration to me with his endless generosity, his love of family and friends, and pursuit of social justice. We met at Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts when we both were in the doctoral program. Floyd pushed boundaries on every front and left the gifts of his friendship, love and faith in each of us who knew him. There are no words to capture the intensity of his commitment to being part of the solution, even if he had to pay a price for it. And he did,…many, many times. He lived joyfully; worked and played hard; a spiritual warrior. He was a Vietnam veteran. He fought until his heart gave in. I know he is in a better place. I will miss him forever.
