Frank William Szostak, age 73 of Warren, died December 25, 2020 at the Church of Christ Care Center in Clinton Township, Michigan. He was born March 1, 1947 in Detroit, Michigan, son of the late William and the late Jennie (nee: Modzelewski) Szostak.
When it comes to finding the perfect career path, Frank certainly won the lottery. Accepting a position with the grocery giant, Kroger’s in his early years, little did Frank know that he would end up spending 42 years with the food supplier until ultimately accepting his well-deserved retirement. Having worked his way through the various aspects of the business, Frank would retire as his store’s Produce Manager.
Like many folks out there, time away from work was often enjoyed by taking in a bit of sports,…of which Frank loved it all. But he was never more passionate then when he was being entertained by the sporting pleasures of Michigan State University. He was all about anything that had to do with MSU, and was definitely Green & White to the core. As for the other “green” that he enjoyed, Frank could often be found “on the green” partaking in his other favorite,…the game of golf. There was little that could match the elation he garnered than spending a sunny day on the links, especially when enjoyed with a kindred spirit. Always in search of that elusive Hole-in-One, there was an effortless satisfaction that came from simply being on the course,…no matter what the score card read.
Friendship was important to Frank, and that aspect of his life was no more highly regarded and experienced than through his membership with the Benevolent & Protective Order of Elks. A fraternal order that many have supported through their respective association over the years, Frank was a proud comrade-in-arms with his fellow elk members, many of whom he always enjoyed spending time with at “The Lodge.”
His other passion in life was found in his love of animals. Frank definitely had a soft spot in his heart when it came to his “furry friends” out there,…especially his own Fur Baby, his precious dog, Emma. Our dogs are often revered as our little children, and Frank couldn’t have loved Emma more so. She always had a welcoming spirit for him, was always attentive when he needed it the most, and offered him that unconditional love that many of us come to know through our pets.
Yet when it came to the love in Frank’s life, nothing could compare to the adoration he felt for those closest to him,…his precious family and friends. He had a huge heart and loved sharing it, and was often surrounded by the many blessings that made life so special.
A loving husband, father and grandfather, Frank leaves a legacy of love for each to embrace who were blessed to know him and be loved by him. In so many ways, he leaves his own mark and will forever be remembered with fond and deep affection. He will be missed immensely and loved eternally.
Frank was the beloved husband of Nancy Szostak. Dear father Joseph Drake and Holly (Kevin) Smith. Loving Grandfather of Owen, and Godfather of Mary Beth Damm. Brother of Robert (Camille) Szostak.
Visitation for Frank will be held Monday, December 28th from 5-9 pm at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 ½ Mile Rd.) in Warren.
He will lie in state on Tuesday from 10:00 am until time of the Funeral Mass at 10:30 am at St. Faustina Catholic Church, 14025 E. 12 Mile Road in Warren.
