Fred was the devoted husband of Judy, with whom he shared more than 37 wonderful years of marriage. Together they built a life centered on love, family, and cherished memories. One of the highlights of their life together was a long-awaited two-week trip to Germany in celebration of their 25th wedding anniversary—a journey that remained one of Fred's most treasured memories.
He was the proud father of Frederick "Mike" Parrish III and Kenneth Parrish, and a loving grandfather to Rachel Parrish and Michael Parrish. Fred also found great joy in being a great-grandfather to Mackenzie Smolarek, Maci Smolarek, and Willow Parrish. Nothing brought him greater happiness than watching his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren grow and celebrate life's milestones.
Fred proudly served his country as a veteran of the United States Army before dedicating more than 35 years of service as a sheriff's deputy with the Wayne County Sheriff's Department. Throughout his career, he was known for his integrity, dedication, and commitment to protecting and serving his community.
His devotion to his community extended beyond his professional life. Fred was an active member of local neighborhood watch organizations, most notably Defender's East, where he formed many lifelong friendships. He also believed deeply in maintaining his health and faithfully attended cardiac exercise classes at his local hospital for more than 20 years. These sessions not only strengthened his health but also created lasting friendships with fellow participants who became an important part of his life.
Above all else, Fred treasured time with his family. Whether celebrating holidays, sharing stories, or simply enjoying everyday moments together, he valued every opportunity to be with those he loved. His quiet strength, unwavering dedication, kind heart, and steadfast presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Fred leaves behind a legacy of service, loyalty, and love that will continue to live on through his family and the many lives he touched.
