George was born in Detroit, Michigan to the late George and Florence Androff. He enlisted into the US Army National Guard in 1957 and proudly served his country as a SSG Guided Missile Installation Electrician. Following his service, he worked for many years in the U.S. Army Tank-automotive and Armaments Command (TACOM) until his retirement in 1999.
George was the dear husband of his late wife, Mary Androff, with whom he shared 61 wonderful years of marriage. He was a devoted husband who loved her deeply and cherished the life they built together. They enjoyed hosting family gatherings, golfing with family and friends, as well as traveling and camping. He and Mary spent many winters at their campsite at MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, Florida during their retirement. Among his personal interests were the St. Dorothy‘s Men’s club, TACOM golf league and volunteering at St. John’s Macomb Hospital.
Nothing was more important to George than his family, and he cherished the generations that followed him. He was especially proud that his daughters and granddaughters all graduated from college and beyond, and he took great joy in keeping up with and celebrating all their accomplishments.
George was the loving father of Lynn (Michael) Dworzinan and Laurie McIntee. He was the cherished grandfather of Lauren (Patrick), Abigail (Matthew), Julia, Erica, and Farron (Tim), and the adoring great-grandfather of Layla, Louis, and Gabe.
He was the brother of Al (Marge), Nick, and the late Joyce (the late Neal) McNeal. George was also the brother-in-law of Rosemary (the late John) Zachara and Hilda (the late Bill) Kuebler. He is further survived by his aunt Rose “Rosie” as well as many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
George will be remembered for his unwavering devotion to his family, his service to his country, and the love he shared with all who knew him. His legacy lives on in the family he cherished so deeply, and he will be profoundly missed.
