

George E. Beverst, 77, died Saturday, February 10, 2007, in St. John Macomb Hospital Center, Warren. He was born in 1930 in New York City, N.Y. Mr. Beverst owned and operated Beverst Legal Photography. He also was a piano, vocal and music theory instructor, and a publish composer. He worked as a teacher at Harper Woods High School and was know to say, Once a teacher, always a teacher. A Korean Was U.S. Army veteran, he was a member of the Detroit Lutheran Singers. He directed several German choirs and stayed committed to the German musical community. He was the first scholarship recipient of the Junior Year in Munich presented by Wayne State University. Mr. Beverst was a competitive table tennis player and a member of the GACC Table Tennis Club. He enjoyed playing at the Warren Community Center. He also enjoyed traveling around the world, was an avid swimmer, and enjoyed scuba diving. He loved spending time with his family. His family said he was the consummate seeker of knowledge and will be dearly missed. He is survived by his children, Brian (Michelle) Kynaston, Orest (Joanna) Melnyk, Daniel Beverst, and Gloria (David) DeCoste; siblings, Fritz Jr. (Shirley) Richter, Ziegfried (Margritt) Richter and Annamaria (Rick) Shepherd; seven grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Beverst will lie in state Tuesday 9:30am at Historic Trinity Lutheran Church until the time of his service 10:30am. visitation is Monday at the D.S. Temrowski & Son s Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover (at Common), Warren. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions many be addressed to Wayne State University Department of Music, 5475 Woodward, Detroit, Michigan, 48202.
