George learned about survival and resilience during the Great Depression and World War II. He served his country in the Army Air Corps as a Fly Boy. Most of his career was spent at General Motors as a design engineer, retiring in 1985.
George loved spending time with his family, and travelling locally and abroad to see and experience new things. He was an avid sports fan and loved to watch his favorite team, the Detroit Tigers. For many years George found joy playing golf and was an avid bowler for 70 years, having accomplished a score of 300 twice as a young man. As a typical engineer, George was very detail oriented in his career, hobbies, sports, and life.
George will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his 3 children, 5 grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren, many friends, members of his faith community, and all who knew him. He truly left his mark each step of the way during his blessed 102 years.
A funeral service to celebrate George will be held at Hope Lutheran Church, 32400 Hoover Rd. in Warren, Michigan on October 14. Visitation at Hope Lutheran will be at 10:00 am followed by a church service at 11:00 am. Family and friends are invited to continue the celebration of a life well lived and share their memories of George at a luncheon being served at noon following the church service.
Interment at Christian Memorial Gardens West, Rochester Hills.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Hope Lutheran church in George's memory.
Dad, you are now at peace, but you will live on in our hearts. We love you so much. Rest in peace with your heavenly father.
