George Randall Holewski "Randy", age 69, died Wednesday November 6, 2019 at Ascension St. John Hospital in Warren, Michigan. Randy was born July 2, 1950 in Warren, Michigan the son of the late George M. Holewski, and the late Betty Jean (nee: Williams) Holewski.
Randy was raised in Warren where he attended Lincoln High School. He later enlisted into the United States Marine Corps at age 17 during the Vietnam War attaining the rank of Corporal E-4. Randy served from November 29, 1968 until his honorable discharge November 13, 1970 at Camp Pendleton, California.
Following his military service Randy returned home to Warren where he soon met a pretty gal at a bowling alley. The whirlwind romance of Randy and Terri began and led to a marriage producing two beautiful daughters, Stacey and Amanda. Randy and Terri continued their love of bowling, bowling in mixed leagues together.
Being mechanically inclined Randy found employment working as a tool and die maker and became a member of the Teamsters Union. He later opened his own small tool and die shop in Roseville named after his family, HARTS Tool, for Holewski, Amanda, Randy, Terri, and Stacey.
Randy was a "wrencher" at his core and loved mechanics and motorsports, which led him into Kart racing from the age of 15. He started racing enduro karts and later raced all over with the World Karting Association National Circuit. His love of karting was passed down to his daughters, and now his grandson Carson. Today many families participate with their children in travel sports such as travel hockey, soccer, or volleyball. The Holewski family traveled the circuit as a family racing karts... this included Randy, Terri, Stacey, and Amanda.
Over the years the Holewski family was very well respected by the World Karting Association winning family of the year in 1999 with Randy also winning the mechanic of the year and Amanda winning the National Championship. Also again 2017 the family was acknowledged by WKA with Amanda as the driver and Randy, Stacey, and Carson acting as the pit crew.
Some of the most special memories Randy shared with his family were the racing trips to Daytona International Speedway and Daytona Beach for over 40 years during the Christmas Holidays. The family also visited Disney World, Epcot, and Sea World which only became more fun for Randy after his grandson could also enjoy the venues.
Randy was an extremely proud father of his daughters accomplishments... he relished that they both loved kart racing, and also was so proud of his daughter Stacey for joining the military, however he always insisted she should have joined the Marines instead of Army.
Randy had a heart of gold and was constantly helping others with projects and mechanical repairs. He would give anyone the shirt off his back, and when he was not working, Randy spent his quiet time with his cherished dog Zoie until her passing.
Randy was the husband of Terri, and dearest father of Stacey Holewski, and Amanda Holewski. Cherished grandfather of Carson Benjamin, and dear brother of April Wilson, Julie Murphy, and the late Keith Holewski. Also survived by many friends.
A Memorial visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 13th, from 5-9pm at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 1/2 mile road), with a Scripture Service at 7pm at the Funeral Home along with Military Honors.
