

George C. Spranger, age 85 of Warren, died Monday, February 9, 2015 at home . George was born on January 2, 1930 in Highland Park to the late Emil Spranger and the late Gladys (nee: Trembath) Spranger.George was a gifted woodworker. He would often visit the local craft shows where he never met a stranger. His passion was interacting with all of the craft show visitors & vendors, and sharing the pleasures of their "kindred spirit" world. Mr. Spranger took great pride in all of his grandchildren. One of his favorite things to do was to drive to visit them. George would take his grandchildren wherever they wanted to go and do whatever they wanted to do. George was always there to lend a helping hand to family and friends. His life was truly centered around his family, especially his treasured grandchildren. George's family remembers his love of Christmas trees, especially those large 12 and 13 foot tall types. It was a cherished family tradition to decorate the family tree with his children and grandchildren, an annual treat he always looked forward to fulfilling. Speaking of treats,...his greatest love in life, besides that of his wife and family, was found in the glory of FOOD! He maintained a healthy appetite right through the last days of his life. To wash down his favorite meal would be a scotch and milk.George was a lifelong fan of hockey, especially when it came to his renowned Detroit Red Wings. As a child, some of his fondest memories were sneaking into Olympia Stadium to watch the games with his uncle. George and Lois were blessed to own a cottage in Caseville for more than 30 years. In Caseville, he was reunited with some old family friends he grew up with in Detroit. Mr. Spranger loved to look at old Ford Model A's,...and he always loved that new car smell. Mr. Spranger worked for 41 years at Modern Hard Chrome. He was also an active member of Hope Lutheran Church in Warren.George was the beloved husband of Lois M. (nee: Becker) for 61 beautiful years. The two were married on September 12, 1953. He was the dear father of Deborah (John) Wulff, Beth (Michael) Cushard and Paul Spranger. Loving grandfather of Cheryl (Jared) Thresher, the late John Wuluff Jr., Monica (Philip) Pool, Andrea (Cody) Strawser, Tricia (fiance Thomas Lauzon) Cushard, Kayla Cushard, Devin (Charissa) Spranger, and great-grandfather of Ethan Thresher, Carter Thresher and Griffin Pool. He was preceded in death by brother, Everett.A Memorial Visitation for George will be held on Friday, February 13th from 10:00am until the time of his Memorial Service at 11:00am at Hope Lutheran Church, 32400 Hoover Road in Warren.
