

Gerald John Landwehr, age 85 a resident of Warren for over 47 years, died Wednesday, February 24, 2010 at Henry Ford Hospital in Clinton Township. Gerald was born August 31, 1924 in Shepherd, Michigan the son of the late William Landwehr and the late Leona (nee: Vaughn) Landwehr. Mr. Landwehr was raised in Mount Pleasant Michigan and graduated from Sacred Heart Academy. He later studied for his Land Surveyor degree, until being called to serve his country during World War II. Mr. Landwehr served in the United States Navy attaining the rank of Yeoman second class. After his discharge he returned to Michigan where he began his career as a land surveyor. Gerald Landwehr and his late wife moved to Farmington Michigan in 1949 and eventually settled in Warren in 1963. He was co-owner of Mavis & Landwehr civil engineers and land surveyors for many years before venturing on his own, operating Landwehr & Associates Land surveying. Mr. Landwehr worked as a land surveyor for over 50 years. When Gerald was not working his fondest hobby was stereo photography, which is 3D photography. He was a member of the Detroit Stereo Graphic Society, and received two international awards for his work. Gerald also loved music and dancing, however his greatest passion in life was his family. He always held great satisfaction in the fact of surrounding himself with his family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Mr. Landwehr was the beloved husband of the late Gloria (nee: Boucher). He is the dear father of Lynn Hall, Chari (Chet) Dettloff, Kirk (Cynthia) Landwehr, and loving grandfather of Gerald (Janelle) Hall, Kristen (Jeff) Bishop, Sean (Kathy) Dettloff, Michael Dettloff, Kelsey Dettloff, Justin Landwehr, and the late Robert Hall. Great-grandpa of Emily, Benjamin, Brett, Dana, Michael, Carter, and Alayna. He was the dear companion of Lorraine Welch, and brother of Jeanette Sherman, Doris Kinsman, Donald Landwehr, Shirley (Pete) Reed, Ruth (Del) Smolinski, and Judi Palowski. Gerald is also survived by many loving relatives. Visitation for Mr. Landwehr will be Friday from 3-9 pm with a 7pm Scripture service, at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 Mile). Mr. Landwehr will lie in state Saturday 9 am at St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church until the time of the Funeral Mass at 9:30 am. Please share memories of Gerald at his guest book.
