Gerald H. Padden, age 97, passed away peacefully on October 5, 2026. He was the beloved husband of the late Muirlene, and a devoted father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend whose memory will be cherished by all who knew him.
Gerry was born in Langdon, North Dakota, where he grew up working on the family farm. After graduating, he proudly served his country in the United States Army as a mechanic. Following his honorable discharge, Gerry joined his mother and stepfather in Michigan. It was there that he met the love of his life, Muirlene, and decided Michigan was where he belonged with her.
Gerry and Muirlene settled in Warren, where they built their home, raised their three children, and shared a lifetime of memories. Gerry remained a Warren resident until his passing.
A true jack of all trades, Gerry was happiest when he had a project underway. His garage was his favorite place to spend his free time, where he could often be found fixing, building, or tinkering with something. He was always willing to lend a hand to a neighbor and became the go-to man whenever a child's favorite toy needed to be repaired. His generosity, resourcefulness, and willingness to help others were among the many qualities that made him so special.
Gerry had a love for his gun collection and took great pride in his Harley-Davidson. But above all, he treasured his family. He will be deeply missed by his children, Jerlene (the late Steve) Kernya, Jackie (the late Dallas) Craighead, and Michael (Joanna) Padden; his grandchildren, Jamie (Greg) Campbell, Troy Craighead, Michael (Sarah) Kernya, and Adam (Elizabeth) Padden; and his eight great-grandchildren.
Gerry leaves behind a lifetime of stories, lessons, laughter, and memories that will continue to live on through the family he loved so dearly. His helping hands may be still, but the things he built, the people he helped, and the love he gave will remain.
