Geraldine Burris

Geraldine ‘Gerri’ Burris, 86, of Fraser, MI passed away peacefully on April 19, 2023, with her son by her side. She was born on January 9, 1937, in Detroit, MI to the late Brownlow Franklin and Hazel Olean (Bean) Stewart.

Geraldine devoted her life to loving and providing for her sons, John and Paul Burris. She delighted in family gathering, surrounded by her sons, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Ensuring that she always brought a contribution for the meal or small gift for the children.

Geraldine loved spoiling her dog, Chilada. You would often find her talking to friends and family members from across the country. She enjoyed shopping, and you might have even caught her doing some late night QVC shopping sprees. She enjoyed watching TBN and often donated to or supported the organization.

She served others in various professions throughout her life, starting as a switch board operator at Bell Telephone. She then worked for many years as a licensed beautician and later in life as an in-home caretaker to the elderly.

Geraldine is survived by her son, John (Pam) Burris; her grandchildren, Nicole (Mark) DeBoever and Jaclyn (Andrew) McCool; great grandchildren, Nolan, Grayson and Nora; brother, James (Barbara) Stewart; and many loving nephews, nieces, family and friends. She was preceded in death by her son, Paul Burris; brothers, Robert Stewart and Kenneth Stewart; and sisters, Linda Mitchell and Shirley Berkseth.

Geraldine will be loved and greatly missed. A time of remembrance and celebration of Geraldine’s life will be held at A. H. Peters Funeral Home, 32000 Schoenherr Rd, Warren, on May 20. Visitation will begin at 1 PM followed by a service at 2 PM.
