Girard "Jerry" Jansen, 70 of Sterling Heights, died Thursday, November 16, 2006, in his home after a hard battle with cancer. He was born January 10, 1936, in Detroit. Mr. Jansen wa a veteran of the U.S. Army and the Navy. In his spare time, he was a "Treker" and a Rubik's cube solver. His relatives described him as a strong and dedicated family man who was loved and admired by his family and friends, as he loved and admired them as well. Mr. Jansen is survived by his wife and best friend, Elsa; children, Laura (Joseph) Clark, Pamela (Jeffery) Latta, Donna Bombard and Sandra Kyewski; sister, Margaret (Robert) Rubitschun; 12 grand children; and 2 great grandchildre. He was predeceased b his parents, Joseph and Isabella Jansen; son-in-law, Paul Bombard; siblings, Gertrude (Gene) Sepera, Joseph (Louise) Jansen, Charles (Joan) Jansen and Frank Jansen; and three grandchildren. Mr. Jansen will lie in state at 8:30 until time of Mass at 9:00am Saturday at St. Ephrem Catholic Church. Visitation will be held 3-9:00pm Friday with a 7pm Scripture service here at the funeral home
