Gordon Lorne Stevens, age 62 of Madison Heights, died Monday, June 22, 2020 at the Madison Heights Campus of the Ascension Macomb-Oakland Hospital. He was born January 14, 1958 in Detroit, son of the late Bertram Gordon and the late Barbara Ella (nee: Stoltenberg) Stevens.
Employed as a skilled tradesman in the manufacturing field, Gordon worked hard to earn his precious time off so he could putz around in the garage. Known as a “Tinkerer Extraordinaire,” Gordon was a jack-of-all-trades and a consummate Mr. Fix-It. He was always on the lookout for something that needed repairing, adjusting, or simply a little tweak here and there. Taking great pride of his homestead, Gordon strived to keep everything operating like a fine swiss clock.
After Gordon’s wife passed away, he so enjoyed the many wonderful memories created while vacationing with his son, Lorne. Quite often, that meant the two were gettin’ in the car and headed down south. Their road trips afforded them both a host of great “father & son” moments that Gordon cherished until his son passed away as well.
A loving husband, father, brother and uncle, Gordon was the kind of man who rose above life’s challenges and trials and left goodness and kindness in its wake. He leaves behind a storehouse of wonderful memories for all to embrace who were lucky enough to know him. He will be missed immensely and loved eternally.
Gordon was the beloved husband of the late Theresa. Dear father of the late Lorne Stevens. Brother of Susan Redmon, the late Sheila, the late Michael, and the late Sharon. Loving uncle of Justin, Matthew, Barbara, and great-uncle of Matthew, Nevaeh, and Savannah.
Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home in Warren, Michigan.
