Grant was well known as the talented bass guitar player who brought energy and passion to the stage with numerous rock bands throughout his career including the Dick Wagner Band and Dr. Detroit. Beyond his musical accomplishments, Grant was a man of immense character—larger-than-life in every sense. He was a gentle giant, with a charisma and infectious laugh that could light up any room. His presence was felt by all who were fortunate enough to know him.
His adventurous spirit led him to explore the world with his loving wife, traveling across the United States and living life to the fullest. He especially loved their visits to Los Angeles, Florida, and Hawaii. Grant had a love for the water—whether it was snorkeling, boating, or watching thrilling boat races, he cherished every moment spent near the water.
Grant recently retired after 29 years of dedicated work at the Detroit Institute of Arts.
