Gregory Newby

Gregory Newby, 76, of Detroit, Michigan, passed away peacefully on November 18, 2024. He was born on September 24, 1948, in Detroit to Joseph Newby and Thelma Louis Newby.

Gregory was a proud graduate of Detroit’s Northwestern High School. Upon finishing high school, he immediately entered the workforce in the automotive industry, where he spent over three decades working on the assembly line. His dedication and commitment to his work became the foundation of his successful career, which he happily retired from after many years of service.

A devout Catholic, Gregory’s faith was a central part of his life. He found comfort and strength in turning to God during times of hardship, and his faith helped shape the simple yet meaningful way he approached life. Gregory was a man who cherished the simple pleasures in life. He found joy in the everyday moments and lived with a deep appreciation for family, friends, and the beauty of the world around him.

Gregory is survived by his children Gregory (Debbie) Newby, Joseph (Casey) Newby, and Kimberly Newby; his grandchildren Serena, Alex, Tristan, and Avayah; and a host of extended family and friends whose lives were touched by his kindness, humility, and unwavering faith. He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Thelma Newby; his wife Stephanie Newby; and his siblings Edward Jamison, Rose Claire Braxton, Johnny Henry Newby, and Sylvia Evelyn Robe. Gregory will be remembered as a man who lived with purpose, laughed often, and approached each day with a grateful heart.

Visitation for Gregory will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2024 between 11:00 am and 3:00 pm at D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, located at 30009 Hoover Road, Warren, Michigan 48093.

Funeral Service for Gregory will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2024 at 2:00 pm, also at the funeral home.

Gregory Newby will be deeply missed but always remembered. May he rest in peace.
