Harriet Goode King, age 71 of Madison Heights, died Thursday, December 8, 2011 at her residence. She was born on February 21, 1940 in Wyandotte, Michigan, the daughter of the late John McEvoy and the late Mary (nee: Morse) Goode.Harriet was a proud graduate of the Class of 1958 from Immaculata High School in Detroit. From there, she went on to further her education at Walsh College where she attained her skills in accounting. Over the years, she put her talents to work at various different companies, but was most proud of the time she spent at J.C. Penney's and Stouffer's at the Northland Mall. She was a lady with a colorful personality and a great sense of humor, and enjoyed the countless hours she spent watching her favorite television show, 'The Golden Girls.' Many would say, in her own right, she became a Golden Girl herself. Another of her memorable traits was how she did her part in keeping the Nabisco Company in the black through her 'cracker cravings.' To quote her family; 'there wasn't a Ritz Cracker that was safe around Harriet!' But, perhaps, one of her most unique interests in life came from her favorite book, 'Chicken Soup For The Soul.' She carried the book everywhere she went, and its well-worn cover was a testament to how devoted she was in soaking up the encouragement, entertainment and inspiration it offered HER soul. It truly helped to mold the person she was in the eyes of all who were blessed to know this wonderful woman.Harriet was one of seven children, four of which were girls. Known more affectionately as the 'Goode Girls,' they truly enjoyed spending time with each other,'especially over the monthly 'lunch and a movie' dates they shared together. Family meant the world to Harriet, and was never so evident as the love poured out towards her precious son and daughter, and daughter-in-law, Lisa. Yet, just when you thought her love tank was satiated, the vessel of her compassion overflowed even further toward the other sweet cherubs in life,'her grandchildren. She adored them all and found great delight and reward in the wonderful memories they created together, and for which she held closely to her heart. She leaves behind a legacy of love that is unmatched by any other, a testimony to the caring spirit she possessed and shared in abundance. She will be missed immensely and loved eternally.Harriet was the beloved wife of the late Joseph King, and the late Edward Sauve. Dear mother of Paul (Lisa) Sauve, and the late Margaret. Loving grandmother of Ryan, Christopher, Caitlyn, Hailey, Graci, and Dallas. Also surviving are siblings; Nancy Goode, MArtha Goode, John M. II (Carol) Goode, Richard P. Goode, William G. Goode, and Mary Frances (Ed) Burnett. Harriet will lie in state on Monday, December 12th from 9:00am until the time of Mass at 9:30am at St. Martin De Porres Catholic Church, 31555 Hoover Road in Warren. Officiating the liturgy will be Rev. Fr. Roman Pasieczny. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton Township, Michigan. Please share memories of Harriet at her guest book.
