Helen Y. Mikinka

Helen Y. Mikinka (nee: Yarus), age 82 died Wednesday, September 19, 2007 at Autumn Woods Health Care Facility in Warren. Helen was born July 11, 1925 in Summerville, New Jersey the daughter of the late Joseph Yarus and the late Mary (nee: Kusack) Yarus. Helen is the beloved mother of Thomas Mikinka, Becky Soto, Peter (Cheryl) Mikinka, Mark Mikinka, and Carl Mikinka. She is also the loving grandmother of Peter (Hollie) Soto, Paul Soto, Cassandra Mikinka, and great-grandmother of Eleanna Soto. Helen was raised in New Jersey and came to Michigan in 1950. Helen was a resident of Warren for over 60 years. Mrs. Mikinka worked more than 30 years as a bookkeeper for Verstand Engineering, Inc. in Madison Heights. Helen was a very resourceful woman, who never learned to drive until 1975; her family said she would just walk to most destinations. When Helen was not working she enjoyed spending time with her family, cooking for holiday meals, gardening, and reading. Visitation for Helen will be Sunday from 3-7 pm at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 mile). Funeral Services will be Monday 10:30 am at the funeral home. Officiating the Funeral will be Rev. Jerry Weinzierl.
