

Helen Catherine Rutkowski, age 92 of Oxford and formerly of Spring Hill Florida, died Tuesday, July 06, 2010 at her home in Oxford. Helen was born February 14, 1918 in Hamtramck, Michigan the daughter of the late Stanley Zalewski and the late Helen (nee: Pulawski) Zalewski. Helen was raised in Hamtramck and graduated from Hamtramck High School. After Helen married her husband Stanley they settled in Detroit from 1947 until their retirement. Retirement years were spent in Spring Hill Florida where she and her late husband enjoyed gardening, playing cards especially pinochle, and Bingo. Mrs. Rutkowski was also a wonderful homemaker and cook. After Mrs. Rutkowski husband died she returned to Michigan to be closer to her daughters and moved into a senior retirement community where she was affectionately known as the Jig Saw Puzzle Queen. Helen was the beloved wife of the late Stanley Rutkowski, and the loving mother of Camille (Jay) Schatz, and Christine (Richard) Stephenson. She is also survived by her sister Lillian Gurski, 2 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren. Visitation for Mrs. Rutkowski will be held Thursday 3-9 p.m. with a 7:15 p.m. Vigil Service at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 1/2 Mile Road). Mrs. Rutkowski will lie in state Friday 11 am at St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church until the time of the Funeral Mass at 11:30 am. Interment will follow in Mount Olivet Cemtery in Detroit.
