Helen Bernice Waldorf, age 93 of Clinton Township, died Wednesday, July 8, 2015 at St. John Macomb-Oakland Hospital, Macomb Center in Warren. Helen was born November 19, 1921 to Margaret and Edward Fremont in Bad Axe Michigan. They moved to the Detroit area when Helen was about 7 years old and she graduated from Denby High School.Helen met "Marky" through mutual friends and they began dating. They both loved going to the movies. Helen and Marky got married on April 13, 1940. Together they built their own home in Harper Woods where they shared 55 years of marriage and raised 17 children. Her first love was her family. One of her greatest pleasures was when the entire family could get together and enjoy a holiday. She would get right in the middle of it all. In the midst of raising children and helping with grandchildren, Helen did make a little time to enjoy collecting bells of all kinds, loved playing bingo, and enjoyed her favorite sweet treat, a dish of butter pecan ice cream. The occasional trip to the casino for some fun was something she looked forward to in her later years. She was always singing or humming a tune, and also played the piano for us whenever she could. Her time was mostly devoted to caring for her family as she also cared for her own mom. Helen had to be a taxi driver, teacher, nurse, doctor, lawyer and travel agent all bundled up into one person. Yet she always tried to take time to enjoy an episode of Wheel of Fortune or Matlock when she was able. We can't forget to mention being a "zoo keeper" to all the wonderful frogs, snakes and fish we brought home.Helen was a strong, faithful person,...an inspiration to her family and all who knew her.Helen is survived by her dear children, Elaine (Ron) Schilling, James (Susann) Waldorf, Thomas (Lani) Waldorf, Kathleen (Keith) Wygal, Carol (Geoff) Gerling, Doris (Jack) Niborski, Mark (Terri) Waldorf, Roger Waldorf, Stephen Waldorf, Kenneth (Barbara)Waldorf, Alice (Robert) Dickerson, Duane (Lisa) Waldorf, Renee (James) Weidner, Charles (Donna) Waldorf , Alan (Kim) Waldorf.
