Iris M. Smith

Iris M. Smith, age 87, of Sterling Heights, died on Tuesday, July 27, 2010 at St. John Macomb-Oakland Hospital in Warren. A daughter of Stanley and Miriam (Watters) Holbrook, she was born on November 13, 1922 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Iris was united in marriage to Leonard Smith on January 18, 1947 in Toronto. She was a homemaker and enjoyed knitting, as well as spending time with her family, particularly her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was an active member of Community Baptist Church in St. Clair Shores, and was a member of the Joy Club at the Warren Woods Church of the Nazarene. Mrs. Smith is survived by her children, Wendy (Frank) Wilhelm, Sue (Carl) Laesch and Linda (Bill) Koenig; grandchildren, Scott (Shannon) Wilhelm, Todd (Carrie) Wilhelm, Jennifer Johnson, Carl (Tricia) Laesch, Neal Laesch, Christine (Derek) Dylan, Sherry and Billy Koenig, and Lauren Loria; and great-granchildren, Tyler and Lainey Laesch, Morgan Johnson, Serena and Tara Wilhelm, and Jonah Dylan. She was predeceased by her husband, Leonard, on June 8, 2010. A funeral service will be held at 12 noon Thursday, July 29, 2010 at Community Baptist Church, 33000 Harper, St. Clair Shores, with Pastor Lyle Ihde officiating. Visitation will take place at the church from 10 am until the time of service. Interment will take place at Cadillac Memorial Gardens East Cemetery, Clinton Township.
