Irmgard was the beloved wife of the late Erich Krause and the cherished longtime partner of the late Walter Moser. She was a devoted mother to Monica (Greg) Soosik and a proud and loving Omi to Sophia and Justin Soosik, who were the greatest joys of her life.
Born in Germany, Irmgard displayed extraordinary courage at a young age when, at just 18 years old, she immigrated to the United States alone with only a few dollars to her name and a determination to build a better future. She first worked for a prominent family in Grosse Pointe before beginning a long and successful career with Chrysler. A talented tailor by trade, Irmgard used her exceptional sewing skills to fit and craft automobile seats and interiors, taking great pride in her work until her retirement at the age of 58.
Not long after arriving in America, she met the love of her life, Erich. Together they built a home and family rooted in hard work, love, and tradition. Following Erich's illness and untimely passing, Irmgard demonstrated incredible strength and resilience, working tirelessly to provide for her family and ensure that Monica had the opportunity to earn a college education. Her unwavering determination and selflessness became defining qualities of her life.
Irmgard was deeply devoted to preserving her German heritage and was an active member of both the German American Cultural Center and the Carpathia Club for many years. She generously volunteered her time, serving on the Board of Directors and as Membership Secretary for the German American Cultural Center. She also shared her beautiful singing voice as a member of the choirs at both organizations and enthusiastically participated in countless festivals, celebrations, and community events. Through her dedication, she helped foster lifelong friendships and strengthened the cultural traditions she held so dear.
After retiring, Irmgard found companionship once again with her longtime partner, Walter Moser. Together they shared many wonderful years, traveling extensively throughout the world and creating treasured memories. Of all the places they visited, Barbados remained her favorite destination, a place she always remembered with special fondness.
Irmgard will be remembered as a remarkably strong, independent woman who faced life's challenges with courage, determination, and grace. Friends often described her as "a force of nature"—a fitting tribute to someone whose resilience, generosity, spirited personality, and unwavering work ethic left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Above all, Irmgard's greatest pride was her family. She leaves behind a legacy of perseverance, love, and strength that will continue to inspire her daughter, grandchildren, extended family, and many dear friends.
She will be deeply missed and forever remembered with love.
In following her wishes, no formal services will be held.
