

Irving Deleon "Leon" Mills, age 56, died Monday, September 28, 2015 at St. John Oakland Hospital in Madison Heights, Michigan. Leon was born August 18, 1959 in Glenwood, Georgia, the son of Johnnie B. Hampton and Rosaline Mills.Having resided in many different states including Georgia and Connecticut, Leon spent his last remaining years living in Michigan. During his time working, Leon had a passion for food which led him to his craft as a caterer. His skills in preparing food was enjoyed by countless visitors to the MGM Grand Casino in Detroit before health issues ultimately forced his retirement.When Leon was not working, he loved to shop and travel. He took many shipboard cruises with his fiancé, and recently with his brother. Leon had a devout Christian foundation and believed deeply in his Heavenly Father, his Lord, Jesus Christ, and in giving to others with an unselfish heart. In working out his faith, Leon was proud to be a foster parent, mentored youths as a Big Brother, and worked with impaired and handicapped children through ARC Services. Leon possessed the heart of a servant,...gave as one who was richly blessed,...whose "heart of gold" touched a multitude of lives in his journey through life. May his example and inspiration continue to bless the souls of all he touched with each reflection shared. He will be missed immensely and loved eternally. Leon was the loving fiancé of Nola Blake, and is the dear father of Antonia "Tonia" Brown (Eric Bryant Sr.). He was the cherished Papa of Irvoni Bryant, Eric Bryant Jr., and the brother of Ernest (Rose) Johnson, Rosalyn "Net" Johnson, Bridget Hemens, Floretta Johnson, Walter (Sandra) Mills, Janice Boston, Angela Wooten, and the late Tony Mills, and brother in-law of Debora Cohen. He was the nephew of James Mills and Maxine Mills. Additional survivors include his numerous nieces, nephews, loving family members, and friends.Visitation for Leon will be held Friday, October 2nd from 3-9pm at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 ½ mile) in Warren. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday at the Funeral Home.
