

Jim was born on October 19, 1934 in Bay Port, Michigan to his parents Melvin and Leona Dutcher.
He graduated from Bay Port High School in 1952. On July 7, 1956 in Pigeon, Michigan, Jim married the love of his life, Shirley. Together they raised two children and spent 67 years of marriage together. He served two years honorably in the United States Army Reserve from 1957 - 1958. Jim attended Michigan State University and then went on to excel at metal sales for decades at Copper & Brass Sales Inc. He often found peace fishing and was an avid fisherman all his life. He was an Eagle Scout and took pride in the honor of playing Revelry at Fort Mackinac on Mackinac Island. Known to be a proud storyteller, Jim loved sharing stories and passing his knowledge and wisdom down to his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was actively involved in Christ Lutheran Church where he also sang in the church choir.
Jim is survived by his loving wife and companion Shirley Dutcher (nee Schuette), children Kevin Dutcher and Jill (Mike) Sabiston, grandchildren Matthew Dutcher, Shelli (Tim) Hedlund, Derek (Alex) Sabiston, Kristen (Mike) Jeffries, great grandchildren Soren Hedlund, Jacob Layton and Freddie Sabiston, in-laws Edna Dutcher, Carol Bridges and Bob Schuette.
Friends may visit Christ Lutheran Church, 32300 Schoenherr Road, Warren, MI 48088 on Monday, August 28 from 10:00 A.M until 11:30 A.M. with a funeral service at 11:30 A.M.
