James L. Johnson, 70, of Roseville died Friday, September 2, 2005 at his home. Jim felt his family was the most important thing of all. He loved them and enjoyed being with them more than anything, and was proud of the family he helped raise. Holidays, he felt, were all about family. He would prepare the food and stock the bar with everyone's favorite beverages. He loved to have a good time, and was always the life of the party, especially when his family was there to help him celebrate. Jim enjoyed volunteering for school field trips, and donating time to help with events at the Fraternal Order of Eagles barbecues and children's carnivals. He liked to putz around the house or cottage. Finding a great paint deal was one of his talents, and whenever he did, suddenly everything around the house or cottage received a fresh coat of the same color paint. A good garage or yard sale were things he could never pass by. Even if he found an old TV left on the side of the road he thought it was "good junk", and soon it would be airing the History Channel. Jim was an avid fisherman and hunter. He taught his son and sons-in-law the finer points of hunting. He loved spending time up north around the campfire with family and friends. As a survivor of a stroke 9 years ago, he was left paralyzed on the right side and unable to speak. He showed his family what hardwork and togetherness could accomplish, by the strength and endurance he showed during his rehab and therapy sessions. His family is very proud of his bravery and strength. In heaven he is walking and talking with his mother and sister, and they are holding a family table at the nearest club. Jim is survived by his loving wife Barbara; dear children Cheryl & Jeff Bennett, Debbie & Tony Cavalli, Jackie & Paul DesRosiers and Jim & Shelly; grandchildren Aleshia, Jessica, Gary, Jimmy and Nicholas; and many nieces and nephews. A funeral service for Jim will be held Monday, September 5, 2005 at 10:00 am at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover at Common (12 1/2 Mile). Visitation is Sunday from 2-9 pm. The service will be officated by Fr. Robert Schuster.
