James Stanley Ogonowski, age 82, of Shelby Township, Michigan, passed away on Tuesday, June 24, 2025. He was born on May 7, 1943, in Detroit, Michigan to his late parents, Zigmund and Lillian Ogonowski.
James honorably served in the United States Army, carrying himself with pride, dedication, and humility. A devoted husband, he shared nearly 61 wonderful years of marriage with the love of his life, Connie—a bond marked by deep affection, laughter, and unwavering companionship.
James lived a life filled with simple joys and deep passions. He was a golf enthusiast who relished time on the course, a lover of music who couldn't resist a good tune to dance or sing along to, and a man who found peace in nature, especially when tending to his garden.
A proud fan of Detroit sports, James never missed an opportunity to cheer on his teams. But above all, he cherished time with his friends and family—especially his grandchildren, who brought him endless joy and pride. James leaves behind a legacy of love, warmth, and quiet strength. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
James was the beloved husband of Connie. Loving father of Tim (Jennifer) Ogonowski and Becky (Bryan) Cole. Cherished grandfather of Meaghan (Sean) Cahill, Sarah (Evan) Sharon, Alex Cole, and Chloe Cole. Adored great-grandfather of Daniel Cahill and Elliana Cahill. Dear brother of Gloria Greb and the late John Ogonowski.
A Memorial Visitation for James will be held on Friday, July 11th from 4-8pm with a Memorial Service and Military Honors at 7pm at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road in Warren.
