Jane Frances Sheridan, age 93 of Warren, died Thursday, November 17, 2016 at ShorePointe Nursing Center in St. Clair Shores, Michigan. She was born October 14, 1923 in Long Branch, New Jersey, daughter of the late Clement and the late Eleanor (nee: Williams) Knott. Many of us are simply residents of Michigan, enjoying the eclectic benefits that the Great Lakes State has to offer. But for Jane, being a Michigander meant so much more. She adored the state and the metro Detroit area for so many reasons and passed along this passion to her family and loved ones. And it was never more evident, nor expressive, than when they visited the Canada Creek Ranch Association in Michigan's north-country. A little northeast of Gaylord and a little northwest of Alpena, nestled amidst the forestry and woodland beauty of the upper part of the lower peninsula, lie a plot of land that Jane and her family enjoyed immensely over the years and made it their "home away from home." Another "Up North" pleasure that Jane held dear was the annual Mackinac Bridge Walk, an event she took great pride in participating for over 20 plus consecutive years. Strappin' on her tennies and joining in with the throngs of the Mighty Mac Marcher's, Jane enjoyed both the physical exercise as well as the emotional highlights of sharing in all the wonderful friendships made over the years with her fellow walker's. And if all of that outdoor activity weren't enough, Jane always made time for a little golf as well. Hittin' the course on a nice, sunny day spelled all kinds of fun for this Lady of the Links. Forever in search of that elusive Hole-in-One, Jane enjoyed the pleasures of both recreational golf and swingin' the irons on the leagues at Fern Hill Golf Club in Clinton Township, Michigan. And get this,…she was still taming the golf course at the spry ol' age of 85,…and with a verve for life as none other. Jane was also known for wowin' & amazin' her family and friends with her culinary prowess and her skills in cooking and baking. Give her a kitchen, a stove and an oven, and she could whip up some magic in no time flat. She baked an apple pie that made your eyes roll back in your head,…a lasagna that made the palate go aaah,…and a poppy seed cake that was to die for. Of course, her talents and abilities spanned far wider than just these three examples. But the bottom line,…if you left Jane's table hungry, you just weren't tryin." A loving wife, mother and grandmother, Jane adored her family and leaves behind a legacy of love to be embraced with each reflection shared. She touched a multitude of hearts and lives along the way, and was an inspiration to all who were blessed to know her. She will be missed immensely and loved eternally. Jane was the beloved wife of the late Thomas. Dear mother of Wendy (Timothy) Simmons, the late William Thomas, and the late Christy Ann (Linda Drown) Pinoniemi. Loving grandmother of Jo Burrough, Jason (Laura), Derrik, Delon (Jennifer), Dawn (Mike), David, Jennifer (Troy) Haidle, and great-grandmother of Sadie, Cole, Mia, and Sofia. Sister of the late William Knott. A Memorial Service & Luncheon for Jane will be held at 1:00 pm on Sunday, November 27th at the Fern Hill Golf Club, 17600 Clinton River Road in Clinton Township, Michigan.Arrangements have been entrusted to the D.S.
