Janet Ann Drew

Janet, the daughter of Eddie and Margaret Duborg, born in Detroit, Michigan, lived her early days in church, playing piano and singing, while enjoying the warmth and admiration of a loving extended family. After graduating from Denby High School in 1954, Jan exchanged marriage vows with her long-time church boyfriend, Elmer Drew. In short order, she birthed three boys, Kenneth Allen, Roger James, and Dale Michael. It was no easy task to keep up with the energy of three Drew boys under the age of four by the time she was 23. At 30, her only daughter, Karen Lee, joined the crew. It was Janet’s utmost joy to mother her children and create a loving home guided by Christian values and God’s grace.

An accomplished pianist, Janet used her gift in many venues. She accompanied her high school choir at Denby and played the piano for church services and the choir at St. Clair Shores Assembly of God. In addition, if there was a group that needed a pianist, she was ready to help. Whether it was a solo & ensemble festival, a girls’ youth group choir, or a Sunday morning solo, Jan Drew volunteered with pleasure. Her musical talents also included a strong alto voice. Her natural ability to harmonize made her a perfect fit in various trios that included church friends and close family. Nothing gave her more pleasure than singing with her children while her husband played the piano. While the melodies conveyed lyrics such as “It is Well With My Soul” or “His Grace is Sufficient,” Janet’s alto anchor exemplified their truth.

Nothing pleased Janet more than family time. To have all of her crew gathered at the table satisfied her soul. A product of southern-Missouri women, she was taught to cook homestyle meals with plenty of pie at the end! She always made sure that everyone at the table had something special to enjoy. This hospitality extended to church family as well because growing up in church, she learned early the value of Christian fellowship.

Janet filled a room with warmth and acceptance. Kind, loving, protective, trustworthy, hopeful, and persevering defined her role as a daughter, sister, niece, wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. In an effort to emulate her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, she sacrificed her own needs in order to love with abandon, unconditionally. She committed so much of her time to praying over all of those she loved so dearly.

She is survived by her husband of 70 years, Elmer Drew; all four of her loving children, Ken (Melba), Roger (Carolina), Dale (Sharon), Karen (Rob Juhala); eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild; her brother, Don (Sharon) Duborg; her brother-in-law, Alvin David; four nieces and six nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Margaret Duborg; her mother-in-law, Gussie Mae Drew; her sisters-in-law, Shirley David and Marion Drew; brother-in-law, Harold Drew; her grandson, Michael Drew; and her nephew, Jeffrey Duborg.

Visitation Friday, July 24th, 2026, from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM and Saturday, July 25, 2026, from 9:30 to 10:30 AM at Cornerstone Baptist Church, 17017 East 12 Mile Roseville, MI 48066.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, July 25th, 2026, at 10:30 AM at Cornerstone Baptist Church, 17017 East 12 Mile Roseville, MI 48066.

Luncheon will follow immediately after service at Cornerstone Baptist Church.
