Jimmy was born in Fulton, KY on May 12th, 1947 to his parents Ivin and Kathleen Wright (née Ray)
His father was in WWII, so following in his footsteps, Jimmy joined the United States Army. He served in active-duty service from 1965 until 1968, during the height of the Vietnam Era. While serving in the Vietnam War he was awarded two Purple Heart Medals, the Bronze Star Medal, Combat Infantry Badge, Vietnam Service Medal and the Vietnam Campaign Medal. He was transferred to the Army Reserve in 1968 until he was honorably discharged in 1971. He continued his dedication to service and country all throughout his life by serving in VFW honor guards and taking meals to veterans just to name a few. Also, while serving Jimmy was awarded the Army Commendation Medal (ARCOM), which is granted for “consistent acts of heroism or meritorious service.” He is truly the definition and embodiment of a decorated American hero that carried himself with honor and distinction.
He was a genuine hardworking man that provided for his family and retired after many years in the skilled trades as a plant manager in the manufacturing industry. He was also known to be quite an accomplished hustler and professional gambler.
