I am so very sorry to hear of Joan's passing. What a beautiful spirit she had. My thoughts and prayers go out to her whole family.

Many many find memories of Joan, Richard & Deanna. Our families were stationed together in both Germany & Ft Hood. She will be greatly missed. My condolances to her family.

Joan was my sister-in-law and my friend. We shared the joy of having children and the same time and grandchildren. I always enjoyed our phone conversations and will miss her sense of humor. Rest in peace Joan

Even though Joan usually lived in other states or countries for the last twenty years, I could talk to her about anything and we often did. My heart aches knowing that I can't talk to her anymore. She was a great listener and she always tried to set me straight. I love you Joan and I'm gonna miss ya!

I can remember elementary school age playing with Joan when she lived on Normandy St. Always Marco Polo in the pool. I am so glad I got to speak with Joan at Uncle Ed's memorial. RIP Joan.

Aunt Joan was a very special dial Persian with a heart of gold. She left way to early be cause she had so much more to give.

A generous and giving heart is what I will remember. When you were in a conversation with Joan, you had all of her attention.I don't think anyone who ever met her would walk away not feeling like you had met someone special.Someone that left an impression.She was a rare soul with a big smile and always ready to laugh.My mom thought she was the best as they were always smoking buddies.She was and always will be one of a kind.She will be missed by all she touched,but never forgotten.

I got married to Jennifer and joined the Army in 1994. Because of training and getting assigned to the Rock (Baumholder, Germany) for my first duty assignment, I had not lived with Jennifer during our first year of marriage. By the time she got to Baumholder, I received orders to Bosnia for a year. There went year number two. Jennifer was very close to her family. She was young, in a foreign country, and did not know anyone. Just before being deployed, we met Rich and Joan Brauer. Rich, was the highest ranking NCO in the building we lived in and therefore responsible for it. He let me know our responsibilities: mowing and cleaning of the building grounds, as well as cleaning of the dryer lint traps! (The last one is a little inside joke). Jennifer and Joan became great friends, while Rich and I were away. She helped Jennifer with the trails of being a new military wife. Jennifer told me through letters (before email â social networks) what they were doing: hanging out, having dinners, traveling, etc. Twice, Jennifer went with Joan to chaperone Deannaâs band trips in England, while I was deployed or training. In short, Joan took Jennifer under her wing and was there for her when she needed a friend. I smile thinking back to the times we hung out with Rich, Joan, and Deanna and also Ron, Brenda, Danny, and AJ. Whether we were walking to the Visa V (local bar/coffee house) to hang out, letting Lady attack Pepper (our dogs â and another inside joke), going to Trier (infamous train trip) or spending Thanksgiving and Christmas together, those were great times in our lives and Rich, Joan, and Deanna became family. Everyone always tells Jennifer and me that they donât know how we made it those early years in the military. Joan Brauer was why we made it. I didnât realized it when it was happening, but looking back now it is obvious. I am so grateful for Joan. I love you Joan. I will miss you. Kevin Meador

Joan was a wonderful sister in law we had a lot of good times with her an my brother Richard will never forget her . She was a loving wife an mother an had such a good heart if their was something she could do for you she would go out of her way to do it . I do wish my mother could of met her but she passed away before Rich an Joan met she would of loved her very much. Butch an Barb Depifanio. Fare well lovely lady we will see you again.

I am one of the former military wives who had the pleasure of knowing Joan during my three + years in Germany. Joan was a very memorable person and one you could count on, no matter what was asked. I remember the countless chili sales for the wives group and all the fun we had. Two memories stand out for me during that time: one, the 'jello square' fight she and my (ex) husband had in the family room and how much my eldest daughter, Rebekah, was completely enamoured of Joan. Joan was always there whenever needed. I will always remember how she helped the 'new' USAEUR wives adapt to the military overseas. She had a wonderful heart and will be missed.

I will remember you forever. All the fun we had at Joel's cottage, jack in the box, driving around for hours on $1 a gallon of gas.
