Joan Kenny

Joan Kenny, Age 90, died April 1, 2012, at Medilodge Nursing Home in Sterling Heights, Michigan. Joan was born August 23, 1921, in Wheeling, West Virginia to the late George Thomas and the late Catherine (nee: Maulinas) Thomas. Being mostly raised in West Virginia and in Pennsylvania she and her family later moved to Detroit in the early 40's. After a few of years in Detroit she met the love of her life, Joseph 'Harry'. They married in 1942 and moved to Warren so that they could raise a family together.Joan was very family oriented. She wasn't only a devoted mother she was a protective mother. She was the disciplined Shepherd that ruled the flock, but with the compassion of a saint. Joan loved to travel, she could make it look like a piece of cake packing up the kids up and getting on the road in just a few hours. The family was always excited to make the trip back to the hills of West Virginia to visit with Joan's family.Joan was a loving and caring mother, grandmother and great grandmother who will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph 'Harry'. Loving mother of Kathleen (Jim) Dillon, Joseph H. (Maryann), David (Loraine), and James (Julie) Kenny. Devoted grandmother of 11, great grandmother of 12. Joan was also predeceased by her parents, George and Catherine and her grandson, Justin. Visitation for Joan will be held on Tuesday 3-9pm with a Scripture Service at 7pm at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 ' Mile Road). She will lie in state Wednesday at 9:00 am until the time of her Funeral Mass at 9:30 am at St. Blas' Catholic Church in Sterling Heights. Please share memories at her guest book.
