Joann was a beloved mother, cherished grandmother, and a wonderful friend to all who knew her. She was the loving mother of Cynthia (Rolando) Salayon and Brian (Gwen) Sounart, and the proud grandmother of Dylan Miscovich, Julianne Sounart, and Charlotte Sounart.
Joann grew up in Harper Woods, Michigan, before moving and spending her life in Sterling Heights, where she built a life filled with family, friendships, and many happy memories. Joann had a wonderful sense of style and always enjoyed looking her best. She loved shopping, especially for clothes and jewelry, and enjoyed getting her hair done. She took pride in looking nice wherever she went and had a special appreciation for the little things that made her feel beautiful and confident. She also had a creative spirit and loved crafts. Over the years, she enjoyed ceramics and macramé and especially loved attending craft shows. Her creativity and appreciation for handmade things were a special part of who she was. Some of Joann’s happiest memories were made traveling with her daughter, Cynthia. Together, they enjoyed wonderful trips to Hawaii and Italy, along with many other smaller adventures.
Visitation will be held at A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 32000 Schoenherr Road, in Warren, on Thursday, September 24, 2026, from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Instate will be held the following day, Friday, September 25, from 10:00 am until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 am, at A.H. Peters Funeral Home in Warren.
In lieu of flowers, donations made to the American Heart Association or the Parkinson's Foundation, would be deeply appreciated.
