Joann Patricia Borowy Vultaggio, age 86 of Warren, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 7, 2019 following treatment she was receiving for cancer at the Mayo Clinic in Phoenix, Arizona. She was born November 29, 1932 in Detroit, Michigan, daughter of the late William and the late Sophia (nee: Gosztuia) Mack.Joann was a loving Mom and homemaker who poured herself into caring for the needs of her husband and children, and keeping the homefires burning bright. One of the ways she truly shined was through her love of cooking. Like most Mom's, Joann grew up learning the finer points and traditions of food preparation, then simply put her own spin on what she produced. All she needed was a stove, an oven and some space to prepare, then just step back and watch the magic unfold. Mealtimes at Joann's were always a thing to behold. If you left her table hungry, you just weren't tryin'!As for pastimes and activities that brought a little balance to life, Joann was known for her love of painting and being able to express the artisan that lie deep within. Dabbling in this genre afforded her the opportunity of sharing with the world a deeper picture of who she was through each stroke of the brush. Joann was also mindful of her body and the importance of keeping in shape which was supported by her love of exercising. And then there were the pleasures derived in the many opportunities of travel she enjoyed,…especially with her second husband, Tony. Taking the time to get away and see new and interesting places, or perhaps revisiting some old and favorite destinations, provided Joann with a special sense of growing and learning more about the world, be it close or far away. Joann was also a woman with a deep and abiding faith. A longtime member of St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church in Warren, she was devout in her beliefs and lived out her faith with a warmth and compassion that touched a multitude of hearts and souls in her journey this side of Heaven. A loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, Joann was blessed to share her life with five wonderful males,…her two husbands and three beautiful boys. There was never a dull moment as "family togetherness" reigned supreme with Joann and her boys. From the vacation fun & memories made over the years, to the many work projects shared around the house, or the simple joys of sharing the comforts of home, Joann was the glue that held it all together and which helped to create the wonderful and lasting memories her boys remember even today. She was a vast influence upon so many lives and leaves a lasting legacy that is sure to be embraced with each reflection shared. To know her was to love her, and that love went both ways. She will be missed immensely and loved eternally. Joann was the beloved wife of the late Edward D. Borowy, and the late Anthony "Tony" Vultaggio. Dearest mother of Edward J. (Mary) Borowy, Stephen (Susan) Borowy, and Bruce (Judy) Borowy. Loving grandmother of Erin, Kristen, Stephanie, Christopher, Max, and great-grandmother of Jacob, Logan and Elene. She leaves many nieces, nephews, and cherished friends. Also preceding Joann in death was her dear brother, Richard Makowski. Surviving Richard is his wife and lifelong friend to Joann, her sister-in-law, Jackie Makowski.Visitation for Joann will be held Friday, February 1st from 5-9 pm, with a 7:00 pm Rosary Service, at the D.S.
