

JoAnne Schaller, beloved mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 7, 2025, at the age of 89. Born on September 4, 1936, and raised in Hamtramck, Michigan, JoAnne was a shining light to all who knew her. On September 15, 1956, JoAnne married her beloved husband Robert Schaller, he preceded her death on February 17, 2010.
JoAnne will always be remembered as a loving and compassionate mother, grandmother and friend. With her humor, and gentle kindness, JoAnne had a way of lighting up any room. She was known for her contagious kindness and selfless spirit, always putting the needs of others before her own. Friends and family were drawn to her warmth, and she created countless memories filled with laughter and love.
JoAnne cherished her Catholic faith and was deeply devoted to her church community. She was a lifelong member of St. Mary, Our Queen of Families Parish – St. Clement Campus and found joy in attending Bible study at her Oakleigh of Macomb home, including practicing her faith daily.
She loved spending time with her daughters, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and her many dear friends. Whether it was playing penny poker, bingo, pinochle, listening to music, or simply sharing stories and smiles, JoAnne treasured every moment with those she loved.
Her family and friends will forever remember her as the most caring and selfless person—someone who embodied love and kindness in all she did.
JoAnne was a loving mother to her children Ruthann Hardy, Kimberly (Don) Cape and the late Robert (“Bobby”) Schaller, who preceded her death in 2017. Loving grandmother to Daniel, and Jacqueline Cape, and Tyler Schaller. Sister of the late Eleanor Lazarecki, Ruth Stanczak, and Ted Stanczak. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her, including her many nieces and nephews.
JoAnne will lie in state on Monday, October 13th at 10am until the time of her Funeral Mass at 11am at St. Mary’s, Our Lady Queen of Families Parish – St. Clement Campus, 8075 Ritter Street, Center Line 48015.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 ½ Mile) Road in Warren.
