John Joseph Klank, age 89 of Shelby Township, passed away on Monday, May 20, 2019 in Madison Heights. He was born in Detroit on March 18,1930 , son of the late John and the late Mary (nee: Grabowski) Klank
Mr. Klank was a resident of Shelby Township and was employed as a maintenance man in the automotive field and also for Stroh's Brewery. Mr Klank loved going out on his boat, navigating the many waters of the Great Lakes state. His boat was always the first one in the water come Springtime, and one of the last to exit before the onset of Fall. There was simply a peacefulness and serenity that enveloped his soul each time he sailed the waters of the Mitten.
Another passion John enjoyed was gardening. He never ceased to be swept away by the beauty of the flowers and shrubs that he planted in the Spring. Possessing the hands and knowledge of a horticulturalist, John nurtured his garden with the utmost in tender-loving-care and remained vigilant to its health and resolve. Many would comment on what a beautiful display of floral delight his garden exuded,...and the class it added to the neighborhood. He kept a watchful eye on his flowers and plants until they took hold and flourished,...then simply sat back and enjoyed them until the hint of that first frost.
Fishing was another hobby John enjoyed. He caught many-a-fish while out on his boat. Like every other fisherman, John was always chasing the one that got away!
Unlike most men, John found great enjoyment in shopping as he was forever in search of that awesome bargain. But it wasn't necessarily all about the bargain-hunting for Johnas he was quite the people-person and truly enjoyed engaging with the public and visiting with others while on his shopping excursions.
John was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sylvia, and son, Gregory. He is survived by his sons John Jr. (Debi) Klank and Mark (Angela) Klank. John was the loving grandfather of Rachel (Tom) Lucido and Danielle Klank. Also surviving are his great-grandchildren, Scarlett, Oliver and Gabriel Lucido.
A private Interment will take place at Mt. Avon Cemetery in Rochester, Michigan.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road in Warren, Michigan.
