John A. Sakmar, 75, of Warren, died Thursday, July 8, 2004 at Mt. Clemens General Hospital. He was born Mary 24, 1929 in Detroit to Paul and Magadalen Sakmar. During the Korean War John was in the U.S. Army. He retired from the City of Detroit in 1985. He is also a member of Johnny Smith's Old Timers and the American Legion. John is survived by his wife of 50 years, Thomasene; his children Dr. Thomas (Karina) and Ann (Gene Paddock); grandchildren John, Charlotte, Juliette and William; and siblings Margaret Kuehl, Ernest (Beverly) and Paul (Lillian). Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 15, at St. Sylvester Catholic Church in Warren. He will be in state at the church at 10:00 am with a funeral mass at 10:30 am. Visitation will be Tuesday 5-8pm and Wednesday 2-9pm at the funeral home. There will be a scripture service Wednesday at 6:00 pm and a service Tuesday by the Johnny Smith Old Timers at 7:00 pm Burial will be at Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton Township.
