

Born on October 26, 1946, to Alvin F. and Elizabeth P. Simek, Johnny was raised in Detroit, Michigan along with his four siblings James, MaryAnn, Mark, and Richard. After graduating from De La Salle High School, Johnny focused on a career in hotel hospitality and lived independently in Eastpointe, Michigan.
Johnny was preceded in death by his parents and eldest brother, James. He is survived by siblings MaryAnn, Mark and Richard, along with their spouses Vickie Simek, Ken Demski, and Sandy Simek. He is also survived by nieces Stephanie Kowalski, Leslie Bender and Samantha Simek, along with their spouses (Steve Kowalski and Brant Bender) and children (Samantha Kowalski, Adeline Bender, Braun Bender, Claire Bender, David Bender, and Jionni Simek).
Johnny enjoyed a peaceful life and brought joy and laughter to those around him. He loved his cats, listening to music (especially jazz) and late nights. To him, a good cup of coffee was something to revel in. He cared about the environment, wildlife protection and conservation.
A memorial service will not be held. If you wish to contribute to a worthy cause in his memory, Johnny was a supporter of the Holy Trinity Parish in Detroit, Leader Dogs for the Blind in Rochester, the Michigan Humane Society, St. Joseph's Children's Hospital and charities helping with the repair of cleft lips in children.
