Joseph Stacey Bales

Passed away peacefully surrounded by his adoring family on May 7, 2025, at the age of 74. Beloved husband of Beth for 54 wonderful years. Loving father of Jennifer (Steven) Zobay, James Bales, and Stacey (Kenny) Walters. Proud Papa of Ellah, Tyler, Ava, Brayden, Cameron, Kayleen, Layla, Jillian, Piper, and Scarlett. Dear brother of Charles (Theresa) Bales, James Bales, and Stephen (the late Carol) Bales. He leaves behind many other loving family members and cherished friends.

Born on May 21, 1950, in Detroit, Michigan, Joe was the beloved son of the late Charles A. and Beverly J. Bales. A true adventurer at heart, he embraced life with fearless enthusiasm, whether ziplining through the trees, exploring the ocean depths while scuba diving, or pounding the pavement in marathons. He proudly completed the Detroit Free Press Marathon multiple times and achieved the remarkable milestone of qualifying for the Boston Marathon.

An avid sports enthusiast, his greatest passion was bowling. A skilled competitor, he bowled numerous perfect 300 games throughout his life. Known for his sharp wit, vibrant personality, and infectious spirit, he brought laughter and joy to everyone around him. Joe’s greatest joy was spending quality time with his family.

A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
