December 27, 1952 – July 10, 2026
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Joseph Michael Paruszkiewicz, affectionately known as "Papa Joe," who passed away peacefully on July 10, 2026, at the age of 73, surrounded by his loving family and dear friends after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Joe was a longtime resident of Sterling Heights, Michigan, where he lived for more than 30 years. He was a kind, humble, and easygoing man with a heart of gold who would do anything for anyone. He never hesitated to lend a helping hand and always put others before himself. Those who knew Joe will remember his warm smile, his generous spirit, and his ability to make everyone feel welcome.
Joe owned his own handyman business, where he took great pride in his work. He was known for his dependability, his craftsmanship, and the care he put into every project. Whether helping a customer, a friend, or a neighbor, Joe believed in doing things the right way and was always willing to share his time and talents with others. He also loved cutting grass/ snow plowing with his son Joe when he wasnt working on his own business
He found happiness in life's simple pleasures. Joe loved fishing, camping, long car rides, car cruises, and spending time outdoors. He always knew how to have a good time and treasured every opportunity to create memories with those he loved.
One of Joe's greatest joys was Christmas. It was his favorite time of year, and he couldn't wait to decorate his home and light up his yard for everyone to enjoy. He beamed with pride whenever people admired his beautiful Christmas display. Joe also had a passion for baking, especially his famous homemade cannolis. Every Christmas, family and friends eagerly looked forward to them, and over the years, many gathered in his kitchen to learn how to make them alongside him. Those moments became treasured traditions that will continue to bring smiles and loving memories for years to come.
Above all else, Joe's greatest love was his family. He was a devoted husband, a loving father, a proud grandfather and great-grandfather, and a loyal friend. He found his greatest purpose in being present for the people he loved, offering unwavering support, guidance, laughter, and unconditional love. His family was the center of his world, and the memories they shared will forever remain in their hearts.
Joe shared a beautiful marriage with his beloved wife, Rosemary Paruszkiewicz, who preceded him in death. Though losing her left an immeasurable void in his heart, we find comfort in knowing they are together once again.
Joe is lovingly survived by his children, Shannon Mandell, Jennifer Paruszkiewicz, and Joe Jr. (Gena) Paruszkiewicz; his cherished grandchildren, Alisha, Justin, Brendan Mandell, Aiden, and Annabella Paruszkiewicz; his beloved great-grandchildren, Natalie, Orlando, Oliver his sister, Cindy Paruszkiewicz; and his faithful dog, Scout, who remained by Joe's side and brought him comfort throughout his battle with cancer.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Blanche Paruszkiewicz; his brother, Leonard Paruszkiewicz Jr.; and his sister, Christine Paruszkiewicz.
Joe leaves behind a legacy of kindness, generosity, hard work, and unconditional love. His gentle heart, quiet strength, and willingness to help anyone in need touched countless lives. While our hearts are broken, we are grateful for the many years, memories, laughter, and love we shared with him.
Papa Joe will be deeply missed by his family, his many friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. Though he is no longer with us, his love, his traditions, and the example he set will live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
Forever loved. Forever remembered. Forever missed.
