Joseph Michael Vicchione, age 59, died November 13, 2018 at Ascension St. John Macomb Hospital in Warren. He was born June 25, 1959 in Detroit, son of the late Charles J. and Rosalia P. (nee: Virga) Vicchione. While spending the lion's share of his career in the automotive industry, Joe was a hard worker who spread the wealth of his knowledge and acumen at various facilities throughout the years. Known to possess leadership skills and a discipline that was highly regarded, Joe would eventually be elevated to the position of Plant Supervisor where his responsibilities loomed large,…and his resolves even larger. Joe also loved Livin' Large,…and there was little that could top the pleasures he took away from watching his beloved sport of baseball. And in Joe's eyes, there was no better baseball played than by his coveted Detroit Tigers. When it came to his favorite Boys of Summer in their Old English "D's," that moniker represented much more than simply the team's name, but a Devotion to "hometown pride" and everything All-American. And if there was to be a cherry on the sundae, it came with each opportunity Joe was afforded in sharing the game with his precious grandson,…his fellow banner-waver and adoring fan.Another pastime Joe enjoyed was getting in his car and traveling the circuit of Estate Sales. Not so much because of a need for anything, but mostly to tout his inherent knack of "scoring a deal." Priding himself as quite the shopper when it came to these types of venues, it wasn't rare to witness the unbelievable "finds" that Joe would bring home. He truly had a unique and genuine eye for the treasures amidst the trash,…and loved to share his prowess with all. Love came in many colors to Joe, and some of the warmest hues were those created by the relationships he shared with his furry friends, his precious pups; Angel, Coco, Roxy, Lance, and Bella. The first four were his Loveable Labs, and Bella was affectionately known to all as his "Chawini"…a mix between a Chihuahua and a Dachshund (hence the "Wini" portion). With each possessing their own personality and traits, the most important gift they offered Joe was an unconditional love that could make all the difference in the day,…and often did. Along with all the love and support he received from his loved ones throughout his battle with cancer, his doggies brought a genuine sense of love and strength that truly helped to make his journey more bearable. As Joe traveled his path of challenges, he decided to embark on fulfilling a long-held dream of owning a camper,…and soon afterwards signed on the dotted line and brought one home. He had always been a fan of the camping experience and dreamed of pulling up to a site with his own rig, and now he was able to make that happen. And so he did,…but sadly was only able to enjoy the pleasure a couple of times before succumbing to the weight of his battle. But the memories of what Joe was able to enjoy amidst his loved ones in the camper, around the campfire, and mingling with his fellow campground companions made a world of difference to this wonderful man,…a dream come true.Joe embodied a host of wonderful traits that touched a multitude of hearts and souls, but he will be affectionately remembered especially for his giving spirit, his huge heart, and his unselfish compassion toward others. Joe was truly the kind of guy who would give you the shirt off his back, and was always willing to help when and where needed. He put others' needs ahead of his own, and would give generously without expecting anything in return. But of all who benefitted from his goodness, there was none more grateful than his family,…for Joe was the "glue that held them all together." He was adored by all, especially those three precious cherubs, his grandchildren Ava, Lukas and Jaxson. They were truly the light of his life, and gave special meaning to life as only grandchildren can do. A loving husband, father and grandfather, Joe leaves us far too soon, but not without imparting the best of himself and leaving a legacy of love to be embraced by all who were blessed to know him. He will be missed immensely and loved eternally. Joseph was the beloved husband of Mary. Dearest father of Kristy (Ryan) Palazzola, Darcy Baker, Jacqi MacIntosh, and Eric Baker. Loving grandfather of Ava Grillo, Lukas Palazzola, and Jaxson Rogers. Brother of Charlotte (Larry) Farhat, Barbara (John) Plotzke, Peter Vicchione, and Patrick (Alicia) Vicchione. Cherished uncle & Godfather to Charlotte Plotzke, and uncle to Cheryl Hayes, Jennifer Vicchione, the late Santino DeDonatis III, and the late Michael DeDonatis. He is also survived by many loving great nieces and nephews. Visitation for Joseph will take place on Sunday, November 18th from 3-9 pm, with an evening service, at the D.S.
