Josephine Antonette Gonzalez, age 94 a longtime resident of Center Line, died Saturday, February 27, 2010 at Evangelical Home in Sterling Heights, Michigan. Josephine was born November 14, 1915 in Donora, Pennsylvania the daughter of the late Blase Jezowski and the late Antonina (nee: Dak) Jezowski. Josephine Gonzalez, 94, long-time resident of Center Line, died Saturday, February 27, 2010. Mrs. Gonzalez, beloved wife of Raymond, Sr., lived a long and remarkable life. A faithful and devout Catholic, she was a member of St. Clement Catholic Church since 1942, a member of the Daughters of Isabella, Our Mother of Mary Circle 698, and LOTA. She was active in the Rosary Altar Society and the Alliance of Poles. Mrs. Gonzalez supported her husbands efforts as a councilman for the City of Center Line, one-time member of the Macomb County Board of Supervisors, as well as the clubs and organizations for which he was a valued member; i.e., Knights of Columbus, 4th Degree and the Ushers Club of St. Clement Catholic Church. Family and dear friends were a vital part of her life. For decades, she provided full, loving care of her son, Raymond, Jr., who suffered an illness at 22 years of age which brought on quadriplegia. Her devoted care helped her son live to the age of 66. Her iron will, as evidenced by her great strength in the face of adversity, carried her through lifes challenges. Always touching others with her wit, love and shining example, she guided and blessed the lives of her children; Audrey Basham, the late Raymond Gonzalez, Jr., Art (Joann) Gonzalez, Carol (David) Silage, and her stillborn son, Robert. Pre-deceased by her parents, Blase and Antonina Jezowski; her sisters, Sophie Elgin, Stella Swieca, Mary Borys; and her brother, Albin. Her happiness was intricately woven into the lives of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, dear friend and sister-in-law, Hedy Jerzowski. In recent months, she had been having a recurring dream from which she drew great comfort. In this dream she saw her son, Ray Jr., as he was prior to his debilitating illness, strong, tall and handsome, walking to greet her. He was not alone in this dream. Holding his hand, walking with him, was his young brother, Robert, the infant son his mother had lost in childbirth. The boys were coming to meet her as she left the earthly ties that bound her. In this lovely dream, they were her personal heavenly welcome-home committee. Her family and friends will miss her always, yet will find comfort in the knowledge that she has joined her family in heaven. Visitation for Mrs. Gonzalez will be Wednesday from 3-9 pm, at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 mile). Funeral Services will be held at the funeral home Thursday, 10:30am. Officiating the Funeral will be Rev. Fr. Ronald Victor.
