Joyce was the beloved wife of the late John Taylor, with whom she shared 64 years of marriage. She was a devoted and loving mother to Kevin Taylor, Cherie (Eric) Wright, Sheila (James) Couch, Larry Taylor, and Rose Taylor Lani. She was a proud and cherished grandmother to Jessica (Matt) Fritz, Caitlin Couch, Melanie (Brandon) Cutler, Jack Lani, and Henry Lani, and a loving great-grandmother to Patrick Fritz, Charlie Fritz, and Lydia Jane Cutler. She is survived by her siblings Herbie Scarlett and Jane Cantrell, and was preceded in death by Bonnie Wozniak, Emma Sue Andreoli, Joe Scarlett, Sylvia Johnson, Juanita Scarlett, Elise Nash, Floyd Scarlett and Tom Scarlett.
Joyce was a devoted member of the North Warren Church of Christ for 49 years, generously offering her time, talents, and homemade pies to her church community. A gifted seamstress with a keen eye for classic style, she crafted wardrobes for her five children, made beautiful clothes for her granddaughters, along with clothes for their dolls too. She created countless textiles and always had a craft or some projects going. Beyond sewing, Joyce loved gardening, nurturing rose bushes and vegetable beds from seed each year, and had a lifelong affection for dogs, most recently her beloved schnauzer, Charly. Together with her son Larry, she enjoyed restoring furniture, breathing new life into treasured pieces. Her warmth shone brightest during family holidays, where she took quiet satisfaction in preparing meals, and you always knew you weren’t leaving her home without having a cup of coffee and dessert first. Joyce and her husband treasured visits to their children across the country, cherishing those family moments above all.
Joyce will be remembered for her creativity, dedication to family and faith, and the quiet strength and love she shared with everyone who knew her.
We will greatly miss her. Thank you Mom for all that you did for us. We love you!
