Katharina Neumann, a woman of love, kindness, and passion passed away at age 83 in Warren, Michigan. She was born in Germany to George and Anna (née Bernhart) Traub. Katharina embarked on a new chapter in her life when she moved to the United States to begin anew.
Katharina met Johann M. Neumann, the love of her life, in 1960, after Johann’s father introduced them to one other. Their love story began with their meeting and culminated in a beautiful marriage on May 30, 1964. Together, Katharina and Johann had two daughters, Monica and Heidi and one son, the late Johnny. Their love and dedication for one another was unwavering throughout their sixty years together.
Katharina’s greatest joy in life was her family. Her heart overflowed with love for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She dedicated her life to making sure each family member knew how deeply they were cherished, and to cultivating a home filled with support and understanding. Over the years, Katharina was a constant presence at her children and grandchildren’s sporting events and extracurricular activities, where she would encourage them to participate in things they enjoyed. She found immense pleasure in watching her grandchildren, creating cherished memories with outdoor games, imaginative play, and dress-up sessions that left lasting impressions on their hearts. Katharina’s kindhearted and passionate ways made her home a haven of joy and laughter. No matter the circumstances, Katharina was always there for her family because her love and care for them was infinite.
Katharina had a passion for crafting, enjoying activities such as sewing, crocheting, knitting, macrame, and ceramics. Her creativity was boundless, and she approached every project with enthusiasm and skill. She was also an excellent cook and baker. Her homemade donuts, a Friday tradition during Lent, and her Christmas cookies, which she baked from November until after the holiday, were beloved by all who had the pleasure of tasting them. Any time that Katharina was cooking or baking, her family knew that they would be in for something absolutely delicious. She was truly a natural talent in the kitchen, and she would always leave everyone who tasted her food wanting more.
She also loved dancing, especially alongside her husband, Johann. Together, they were quite the impressive dance couple. Some of their favorite dances were traditional German dances, such as the polka and waltz. Katharina also went on to teach her children and grandchildren to polka and waltz because she loved them so much. Dancing was a way for Katharina to express herself whilst also having a good time.
A devoted animal lover, Katharina had a special place in her heart for her dogs Natasha, Christy, Jada, and Winston. She took them on nightly walks and ensured their happiness and well-being with steady care. Her respect and care for animals was a testament to her genuine and kindhearted ways.
Katharina was known for her resilience, kindness, passion, and selflessness. Her genuine and humble nature, combined with her spunky spirit, made her a beloved figure to all who knew her. Katharina’s legacy of love, creativity, and joy will be remembered fondly by her family and friends.
She is survived by her husband of sixty years, Johann M. Neumann; daughters Monica (Ted) Jacob, and Heidi (Randall) Budnick; grandchildren Christy (T) Sears, Teddy (Jennifer) Jacob, Wayne (Jennifer) Jacob, Katharina (William) Thomas, Jacenta Jacob, Patrick Budnick, Ryan Budnick, Jessica Budnick, Emma Budnick, and Easton Budnick; great-grandchildren Sadie, Berkley, Wade, Chloe, Theo, Evie, Juliet, Knox, Atlas, Huxley, and Cavan; and brothers Anton (Marcel) Traub, and George (Jill) Traub.
