Keith is survived by his beloved wife of 36 years, D’Ann Knight (nee Gallagher). His caring children Ryan (Brooke) Knight, Robert (Debbie Gaddam) Knight, and Valerie (Storm Guitar) Knight. His treasured granddaughters Leah Dee Knight and McKenna Jean Knight. Siblings Kevin (Sue) Knight, Ken (the late Margo) Knight, and Kelly (Rick) Roof. Son-in-law of Robert and Donna Gallagher. Cherished brother-in-law of Michael (Bernadette) Gallagher, Sharon, (Gerard) Kuchta, Maureen (John) Maiuri, Mary Beth Weilemann, Kristin (Stacy) Tunich, and Robert (Kristen) Gallagher. Special uncle to several nieces and nephews.
Keith was an entrepreneur, well-respected coach, and mentor. Keith was a natural and competitive athlete. His hockey talent landed him an opportunity to play on the US Junior National Hockey Team, in the OHL, and a contract with the Calgary Flames Organization. Keith ended his career as a player athlete and went on to coach several levels of ice hockey, baseball, and softball. Keith loved teaching young athletes “the game”, mentoring them not only in athletics, but overall life experiences. All three of his children were fortunate enough to have him as a coach at one time or another.
Keith was hardworking and determined who still found time to have fun. His motto was, “If they can do it, so can I.” He always thought outside the box and never backed down from challenges that came his way. His mindset over the years was inspirational and influenced those who knew him. Keith loved spending time with teammates, whether it be ski trips to Lake Tahoe or meeting at “Tommy’s” (Andrews on the Corner) to catch the bus to watch the Wings play. It was common for Keith and D’Ann to jet off to Vegas a couple times a year and were regulars at the The Joe and Comerica Park.
