

Larry Lew Louwers, age 75 of Orion, Michigan and formerly of Grosse Pointe, died Thursday, June 03, 2010 at Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak. Larry was born February 12, 1935 in Detroit, Michigan the son of the late Edward Louwers and the late Lorraine (nee: Peck) Louwers. Larry was raised in Grosse Pointe and graduated high school from Assumption Catholic College Preparatory School in Windsor Canada, the class of 1953. After high school Mr. Louwers attended and graduated from Michigan State University with a landscape architecture degree and returned to work for his fathers landscaping company, Greater Detroit Landscaping. He worked for his father since he was a young man but eventually became a licensed realtor serving Wayne, Oakland and Macomb counties for over 49 years. Landscaping however was in his blood and passion Larry was a perfectionist when it came to his yard and others constantly trimming, hedging, or weeding for that perfect look. When Larry was not working his family took center stage, whether entertaining the grandkids, family and friends for the holidays or just spending time with at his home on the lake. Also Larry had a generous heart to help others. His family said he collected the downtrodden and strays. When someone had no where to go, Larry would bring that person to his home; feed and shelter them until they where ready to move on. Larry is survived by his beloved wife Ann (nee: McLinn), and his loving daughters, Lanette L. Louwers and Kelly Ann (John) Maher. He is the dearest grandfather of Laine, Kit, and Jack Maher, and brother of Robert (Joan) Louwers, Mary Lou (Paul) Geist, Jenny (Tom) Apfel, and the late Arthur Buddy Louwers. He is the brother in-law of Charles J. McLinn, J. Scott (Sonny) McLinn and Marlene Louwers. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews. Visitation for Mr. Louwers will be Sunday from 1-7 pm at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 Mile Road). Mr. Louwers will lie in state on Monday at 11:00 am until the time of Funeral Mass at 11:30 am at St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church, 31555 Hoover Road in Warren.
