Leokadia Bielaczyc, age 82 , a resident of Warren since 1952, died Friday, November 09, 2007 at Autumn Woods Health Care Facility in Warren. Leokadia was born November 18, 1924 in Poland, the daughter of the late Ignacy Stefanski and the late Apolonia (nee: Polec) Stefanski. During the Nazis occupation of Poland, Leokadia and her sister were separated from their mother by German soldiers and sent to a work camp. Leokadia would never see her mother again. Toward the end of the war Leokadia would give birth to her son Boleslaw during an Allied Forces bombing raid. After the War Leokadia and her husband migrated to America where they would make their home in Michigan. Loss again would strike Leokadia when her husband was tragically killed in an automobile accident when she was only 39 years old. Never one to have self pity she picked herself up and worked for over 20 years for Sweetheart Bakery. She always showed up to work on time even though she never learned to drive. When Leokadia was not working her family and grandchildren were her focus. She loved to cook, knit, crochet, and bake for her family. Also she took solitude in her garden, or just being a good neighbor to the members of Continental Street. Later in life she enjoyed traveling up north to sight see and take pleasure watching the fall colors. Survivors include her children, Boleslaw Ted (Mary Anne) Bielaczyc, Mary Irene Kocuba, and Andrzej (Kim) Bielaczyc. She is also the loving grandmother of Steven, Daniel, Zach, and Andrew, and Great-grandmother of Kadia.. Visitation for Mrs. Bielaczyc will be Sunday from 2-9 pm with a 7 pm Rosary Service, at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 Mile). Mrs. Bielaczyc will lie in state Monday 10:30 am until the time of the funeral Mass 11 am at St. Malachy Catholic Church. Share memories at her guest book.
