Born in Detroit to the late Edward and Virginia Leigh and later adopted by Edward and Leocadia Kaczmarczyk, Leonard served honorably for four years in the United States Marine Corps working as a lineman and radio operator. On a typical day, Leonard could be found camped out by the lake or river, usually the Detroit River since he was an honorary Detroit River Rat, with a fishing pole in hand on his boat. Leonard stayed active and enjoyed bowling and pool. Sometimes he would take his kids with him hunting or fishing to help them appreciate the quiet of the great outdoors, memories that at the time may have seemed boring as kids that they came to appreciate, especially as they got older and had their own kids. He passionately studied all different religions and could strike up a conversation with anyone about it. A dear husband, father, grandfather, and friend, Leonard will be missed dearly.
Loving husband of Darlene Leigh (nee Dunlap). Dear father of Dawn (Mike) Dietz, Julie (girlfriend of Todd), and Mary (fiancé of John). Cherished grandpa of Adam, Sarah, and Lily. Beloved brother of Bill, Jim, Ron, Sharon, Gail, Lonnie, Ray, Nancy, and Dana. Caring brother-in-law of Donna, Diane, David (Barb), Denise, and Dawn. Also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and best friend Andy Percha. Grandpa of his beloved grandog Marley.
