Lois grew up in Rogers City, Michigan, before moving with her family to Detroit in the early 1960s. Throughout her life, she was known for her strong work ethic, independent spirit, and determination. A hard worker through and through, Lois continued working until the age of 74, a testament to her dedication and perseverance. Lois shared a special love with her husband, Richard, the love of her life, with whom she remained married until his passing. Their love was an important part of her life, and she carried his memory with her.
At home, Lois found happiness in the simple things that made life her own. She loved tending to the flowers in her front yard, taking pride in every bloom. Her yard ornaments were among her most treasured possessions, and she took great care of them, even repainting them over the years to keep them looking their best. Her yard was a reflection of her personality: colorful, cared for, and uniquely hers.
Lois was independent, stubborn in the best sense of the word, and determined to live life on her own terms. She had a sense of humor that could brighten even the most difficult day. Whether she was sharing a joke with family and friends or keeping the nurses at the hospital laughing, Lois had a way of bringing smiles to those around her. She found ways to bring joy wherever she went, never losing her spirit or her love of a good laugh.
Lois will be remembered for her hard work, her strength, her love, and her unmistakable personality. She lived life her way, found joy in the things she loved, and left a lasting impression on the people fortunate enough to know her. Though she will be deeply missed, the memories of her laughter, her beautiful flowers, and the little touches that made her house a home will live on in the hearts of those who loved her.
Lois was the beloved wife of the late Richard. Loving mother of Jody Smith and Richard Golasinski. Cherished grandmother of Ryan (Bettie) Smith, Alaina (Nate) Mansueto, and Randy Golasinski. Adored great-grandmother of Hudson Smith and Henley Smith. Dear sister of Marilyn O’Dell and Virgil (Eleanor) Boyke. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Lois was preceded in death by her siblings Gloria Hafner, Ardell Boyke, William Boyke, Delene Brege, Phyllis Hepburn, Larry Boyke, Darhl Boyke, and Jimmy Boyke.
A Memorial Visitation for Lois will be held on Saturday, November 7th from 11am-1pm with a Memorial Service at 1pm at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road in Warren.
