Loraine Antoinette Platkowski, age 93 of Warren, died Thursday, November 17, 2016 at the Father Murray Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Center Line, Michigan. She was born June 8, 1923 in Detroit, daughter of the late Anthony and the late Theresa (nee: Wesolowska) Czuboy.Along with maintaining the comforts of home & hearth and caring for her family's needs, Loraine also held down gainful employment outside of the house as one of the many thousands of Motor City auto workers. She began with Dodge, but would eventually end up with the Chrysler Corporation as a Distribution Manager in the Tool Crib. With over 38 years of dedicated service and a history of work excellence, Loraine finally accepted her well-deserved retirement. She was quite proud of her time within the automotive industry and the many friends she made while working hard. When she found time away from work, she'd often feed a well-loved passion,…the joy of gambling. Some of that joy was experienced in the many Bingo Halls she visited and the countless cards she went through over the years looking for that filled-out row of winners. The other aspect was enjoyed in the numerous casinos that Michigan served up. Loraine was one of those infamous "bus rider's" that loved hitting the circuit of casinos that offered their own brand of gambling pleasure. If the bus was headin' out, you could lay money on the fact that Loraine would be aboard,…on her way to another bout with those One-Armed Bandits.Loraine had quite the eclectic and vivacious personality, known well for her ability to speak her mind. She held many different opinions on a host of life's topics,…never being bashful to share her thoughts. Yet for as outspoken and assertive as she could be, she was equally giving and generous,…always willing to help or lend a hand where needed. She was simply an old world girl with much to offer. Renowned for the fact that she was a 20 year resident of Warren's Stillwell Manor, her years there were filled with many special memories made in the company of the neighbors and friends the years had wrought.A loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, her family may not have been huge, but she possessed love enough for an army,…and her little family unit felt it always. Loraine's family meant the world to her and she held each of them in the highest regard,…especially her little cherubs, the grandchildren. She leaves behind a storehouse of wonderful memories to be embraced with each reflection shared. She will be missed immensely and loved eternally. Loraine was the beloved mother of Jim (Pam) Platt, and the late Walter Platkowski. Loving grandmother of Nicole (Jason Salisbury) Platt, Marcus Platt, Daniel Platt, Kellie Platt, and great-grandmother of Kalee and Jalynn Salisbury. Dear sister of the late Marvin Czuboy.Visitation for Loraine will be held Sunday, November 20th from 5-9pm, with a 7pm Funeral Service, at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 ½ Mile Rd) in Warren. Her Committal Service will take place on Monday, 1:00 pm at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Detroit. Memorial donations are welcomed to the Capuchin Ministries, 1820 Mt. Elliott Street, Detroit, MI 48207.Please share memories of Loraine at her memory book above.
